Pricing
Asking how much does a website cost is much like asking how much a car costs. There are many features and many options. There are budget models and luxury models, small sites an large sites, and each has their own price range.
I will build your site from as low as $500. Many web designers start their pricing at $1,500 to $2,000. While their work if often very good, it does seem like a hefty price just to START building your site.
Since each website is unique, you can use the following information as a guideline.
What do you get for $500?
- Template design for the entire website, including
- layout design
- color scheme
- logo placement
- favicon
- Web pages
- Home page
- About Us page
- Contact page
- Sitemap page
- Links page
- 1 additional content page
- 1 to 2 images on each page
- each image is color corrected, resized and optimized for viewing on web pages
- Up to TWO HOURS of design enhancements (changes)
- Visibility to your site as it gets developed on my server
- Upload to your Web Host's server upon completion
The above can often be sufficient for a basic website. I can easily add pages and more features. Here is a list of some additional options and typical prices...
- additional pages $50 (each)
- Coppermine photo gallery $50 (if hosting is from Host Papa)
- hosting configuration $50
- this will vary with each hosting set up depending on your needs
- $35 special rate applies if you sign up through my site with HostPapa. Call me at 647-258-9444 for details.
- additional image(s) on a page $10 (usually less if you have a lot of images)
- proofing and translation services are negotiated upon request
- additional web design and research $45 / hour
I do not want to "nickel and dime" you on every feature. After discussion with you about the details of the site, I will give you an estimate for the completion of the entire website, with a breakdown of what is included.
Normal website maintenance is typically charged at the hourly rate, with NO MINIMUM.
How to minimize the cost of building your website
First off, you provide the content (text) and all images. In some cases the cost of creating logos and other graphic work can be more expensive than the website itself. Since you already have those, the web development costs will be less.
Next, I estimate the cost for the whole site, not just the individual features. It is like when you buy a car, if you bought the whole car you will pay much less than if you bought its parts separately.
Design changes are normal -- actually they are expected. Nothing is ever designed perfectly to your needs right from the start. At the same time, endless design changes become very costly. Other designers will often include huge price buffers to account for changes, although most website designs only require limited change. The estimate you receive will indicate how much time is allocated for normal design changes. If your site needs more design changes than estimated, they will be charged at the normal hourly rate. However, you will ALWAYS be advised any time work will exceed the original estimate.
I need to reiterate that the above is just a guideline for your reference until we can discuss the details of your website.
